Ben Brocklesby, Director at Origin, the UKs leading manufacturer of premium aluminium doors and windows, talks to us about his most loved brand and how it captured his heart.

Asking which brand is my most loved is like asking me to pick my favourite child – I have two marvellous sons and make sure that both vie equally for my affection and the title of my ‘most loved’. However, for the purposes of this, I am going to pick Porsche.

There are a number of aspects that give the Porsche brand gravitas; history, aesthetics, aspirational value, family, customer service, and engineering excellence to name but a few. Excelling in one of these would be enough for most companies, but to combine them all…well then you have a super brand that has lasted for decades.

Porsche

The brand cemented itself in my memory when I was a child when my father’s work friend came over for lunch one Sunday in a stunning 911. At that stage I had no idea about the car, but I can still remember the sound of it pulling in and it being ‘subtly’ revved.  I rushed out to see this thing of beauty, in classic Porsche Silver with the roof down and the sun shining…needless to say, I begged to be taken out for a drive and that was it, my love of the car and the brand began.

For me Porsche has a clear sense of self. An understanding of its values and voice within a market where it is competing alongside some other amazing car brands. This constancy is the key. Knowing what you stand for, what you do well and sticking to it is a lesson we can all learn.
